New Players Welcome
Indigo Run #1 in Men's 70s Interclub Spring League; 2nd Season Starts Apr. 14
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Indigo Run kept its unbeaten record in tact Thursday, finishing on top in the inaugural Men’s 70s Interclub Spring League. Although not in the original plans back in January, the league is continuing with a "Second Season" that will begin Apr. 14.
All of the 3.5/4.0 teams gathered at Spring Lake Racquet Club for the final match date, then partied afterward. Team standings had shifted every week of the season, but the Indigo guys stayed on top throughout.
The Second Season tentative play dates are Apr. 14 and 28 (skipping Heritage week), May 5, 12 and 19. Players who missed the first season and are interested in getting on a team should contact any of the coordinators: Dick Sonberg (rtsiws@aol.com), Don Ross (d2rosshhi@aol.com) or Dennis Malick (banana@hargray.com). Any men's 3.5 or 4.0 player who will be 70 or older during the 2011 calendar year is eligible to play.
The team format is the same three-court-match setup as the winter Men's Interclub, except that 4.0 players can compete only on Court One. A fourth court is encouraged for all matches.
